Serenia’s Words and Pictures

Ups… I did it again…

For the second year in a row, I have decided to challenge myself and write a story on a certain theme, as directed by the Immigrant Writers Associations…

This year the theme has been – Moving Forward.

This is the third book in the anthology series published by the Immigrant Writers Association (IWA) and written by its members. After Building Bridges (first anthology, in which I didn’t participate) and Grow Together (the second, that included my chapter – A friendship like that),… Moving Forward came as a natural new step towards the future.

Over the years, I have been in different writing groups, at one point being even the organizer for a writing group meet-up. As that fell apart, my need of connection with fellow writers stayed alive, but I couldn’t find any groups close to home. After a google search I came upon IWA and I registered. It totally made sense to me – as an immigrant myself I was definitely, struggling probably with the same challenges as other fellow writers immigrants. However, not much happened. I participated in a workshop and that was about it. But, then, one day, at a book fair, I met Gabriela Casineanu – the mastermind behind the Immigrants Writers Association. Creating that live connection even for a brief moment gave me more hope that there is more to it. Gabriela is doing an amazing work and none of this would be possible without her continuous effort. I continued to follow the association activities with interest and last year, I gathered my courage and participated in the association’s first anthology.

So, here it is…

Crashing it … like a mom

From the beginning of October, my little one and I, we’ve been passing around a cold… like a bouncing ball. Add that to my previous health issues and it’s been a hassle… sleepless nights and busy days, and lots of… tea (for me because my little one doesn’t take a sip).
We’ve tried to fill our days with school like activities and fun…

She loves math, but she won’t touch letters. I know this child came out of my womb, but her math skills are beyond me… She is five! I even made a song for her:

“My Queen Fairy is so smart… She is doing advanced math!”

Mikayla’s Seascape called Beauty

And she is definitely an artist just like her mommy and daddy – Her seascape looks more realistic than mine – ups!

Marni’s Seascape

She’s been listening to a lot of books, but staying only indoors, it’s still becomes boring at some point.
My house is full of toys every day and I wish I had more energy to do more…, but…

Halloween is coming and she is definitely super sad if she won’t participate.

Hope she will feel better soon and we can all go back to some sort of normality…

Back to live…

Everything takes hard work, including… getting back to what you love best.

After taking a break for many years… I decided to be back again…, but changing the platform and building things from scratch has challenged my patience.

If you followed me in the past… Serenia I apologize for making you wait for so long for another post. For personal reasons that are hard to explain in a few words I stopped publishing on the blog. I didn’t stop writing, I just stopped making my work public. People kept asking – when the new post will come – but… Over, the years, I think a lot of followers accepted my abandon. And I hope that one day, when I will be able to open up and explain, they will forgive me.

If you are new here, welcome! I’m new too… to this platform and to being public again.

And I have no idea what I am doing, so please BE PATIENT! I’m still learning… It took me forever to build this website. I almost cried in frustration at moments…, but here I am writing my very first post… here.

The focus of my blog has always been words – articles on different subjects, self-improvement, and once in a while an insight into my creative world of writing and arts. They are just words… about everything! Some different ideas to make people reflect more on the subject.

Actually, I just want to make you think a little bit– that`s all!

So, here it is – just go with the flow!

Note: Also many of these posts are written in the first person, especially the Creative Writing – they are pure work of fiction and they may not reflect any situation that I am currently in.
